Drier offers optimum heat transfer for precious and sensitive products18.06.2012 Lindor, Dordrecht, the Netherlands, well known for its gentle touch mixers for food and fine chemicals, is about to unveil its latest development at the Achema global chemical exhibition which starts 18 June in Frankfurt. Designed along similar lines to the company’s rotary drum mixer, the ‘Gentle Dryer’ is a machine for impregnating, heating, drying and cooling of powders, granulate and natural products. The drum and scoops have a double wall and the machine allows for a hot airstream through the flowing product and the rotating drum. The concept has been registered for a global patent.

The local district court of Wuppertal appointed Dr Marc d’Avoine as the temporary insolvency trustee. New CEO at Kalenborn18.06.2012 After 15 successful years at Kalenborn, Michael W Rokitta, Dipl. Ing., Dipl. Kfm, has retired and hands over the running of the Vettelschoss, Germany, headquartered company to Markus Buscher Dipl. Ing. Last September Buscher had been appointed managing director of the company and at that time Rokitta announced plans to retire this year following a phased hand-over of executive responsibilities (see Industry News for week of 19 September 2011).

Saudi FFS bagging contract won via China18.06.2012 Haver & Boecker, Oelde, Germany, has won a large order to deliver two complete FFS (formfill-seal) bagging lines, together with appropriate palletizing systems, to a customer in Saudi Arabia. The plant is being specially adapted to handle the filling of fatty alcohol pastilles. The order was received via a Chinese design institute.

Mixing of seed blends18.06.2012 AVA-Huep, Herrsching, Germany, reports that production of seed blends is emerging as a new application for its mixers. The company has just delivered the first compact system to an established German seed processing company. Centre-piece of the system is an AVA HTC 350 horizontal drier which is entirely fabricated from stainless steel. Scope of the contract included delivery of the entire steel structure, including the circuit and five movable containers for loading and discharge as well as docking systems.
