18.11.2013 Intelligent explosion venting lowers hazard risk

Rembe GmbH Safety + Control, Brilon, Germany, has introduced the ATEX-certified TARGO-VENT explosion vent which has been designed to deflect an explosion pressure wave, flame front and heat to a prescribed safe area away from risk of human injury. It has been developed by modifying the world famous Rembe Ex-GO-VENT explosion panel so that its opening angle is limited upon actuation. The patent-pending TARGO-VENT can easily be retrofitted on to existing EX-GO-VENTs and required no maintenance. It provides an economical ready-made solution for new and existing installations.
Mike MacClancy, managing director of Rembe Ltd in the UK, explained that this latest innovation solves a lot of concerns and headaches when having to vent potential explosions into manned or populated areas. “Frequently plant operators spend many hours scratching their heads for an economical solution that will satisfy Health & Safety considerations and insurance companies”, he said. The system allows smaller set-up owing to decreased hazard areas. Consequently the usable operating space is increased. www.rembe.de; www.rembe.co.uk
