Handling and storage of precipitated calcium carbonate

Zeppelin Systems Ltd, the UK subsidiary of Zeppelin Silos & Systems, Germany, has just successfully installed a system for handling precipitated calcium carbonate which contains 3% calcium stearate. This difficult powder needed to be aerated to ensure it flows easily and at a controlled rate from silo storage into a vacuum line feeding scale. This was achieved by fitting a full fluidised Zeppelin BTS unit in each silo together with a second ring of eight fluidisation pads operated in sequence. www.zeppelin-industry.com
