Ajax Equipment, Bolton, UK, has won a contract to supply four screw feeders to Kemira Chemicals, a leading manufacturer of water treatment products. They will replace vibratory feeders at the company’s Bradford plant. Originally Kemira ordered one feeder as a replacement for a vibratory feeder, in order to assess how the screw performed conveying polyacrylamide granules. When the screw feeder’s performance exceeded that of the remaining vibratory feeders, Kemira decided to replace all five with Ajax screw feeders. The layout could be satisfied by four screw feeders, each with lengths of around 7-9m. The stainless steel screws all feature full bladed flights customised to provide reliable transfer, with care taken to ensure the feeders’ hanger bearings do not present an obstacle to flow.

In an earlier contract Ajax had supplied Kemira with six vertical screw blenders for the production of dry polyacrylamide at the Bradford plant. www.ajax.co.uk
