18.03.2013 Vortex expands head office and manufacturing plant

Vortex, Salina, KS, is to increase the size of its headquarters by about 50 percent. The 6000m² expansion will bring the US facility to a total of over 17,000m². President and CEO Jeff Thompson said that construction was expected to begin in April and be completed by end of the year. “We are really out of room for future growth. This is to allow for that in the future”, he said. The enlargement will add some 4500m² of production space with a further 1500m² for offices and conference rooms. The company, which currently employs 164 staff at its Salina address, built and occupied its existing headquarters at the end of 2006. In the intervening years the workforce has increased by 33%.
The expansion will allow Vortex to accommodate anticipated future manufacturing demand for its dry bulk valves and diverters, including the new heavy-duty Titan Series launched last year, as well as for the more recently introduced range of retractable dry bulk loading chutes and related equipment (see Industry News for week of 25 February). www.vortexvalves.com
