22.08.2022 From particle design to industrial production

Glatt Ingenieurtechnik, Weimar, Germany, will be exhibiting on Stand 3A-101 at POWTECH. ‘From particle design to the production of powders, granules and pellets’ will be the main theme adopted by Glatt at the trade show. Company experts will be available on the Glatt stand to discuss the complete workflow from product idea to commercial production. As a leading fluid bed technology company with its own advanced test facilities in Weimar, Glatt will be showcasing the interplay between particle design, process know-how and plant engineering.

Customers can discover how particle properties can be influenced to improve the functionality of bulk solids for applications in food, pet food and fine chemicals. By partnering with its customers from product idea to the production of functional powders, granules and pellets, they benefit from access to innovative technologies, very short development times and smooth scale-up based on in-house laboratory and pilot tests.

An example of this is Glatt’s PHOS4green technology to recycle phosphorus from sewage sludge ashes and convert it into ready-to-use phosphate-containing fertilisers, which has already been implemented and tested at an industrial scale.
Although fluid bed and spouted bed technologies can be used to transform liquids and powders into dust-free granules with good flow properties,  Glatt powder synthesis in a pulsating gas stream can also be applied to produce and coat nano- and micropowders. Equipped with tailored particle properties, these are used in numerous high-performance materials, such as new battery materials, catalysts or medical ceramics.

Every product innovation starts in the lab. To test processes based on fluid bed and spouted bed technology, Glatt will be exhibiting its ProCell® LabSystem, a mobile versatile system for maximum lab-scale flexibility. Well suited for feasibility trials with individual products, it is designed to encourage visitors to exchange technical information with Glatt experts directly at the exhibition booth.

Eight different process inserts allow particle design processes to be run in continuous or batch mode. Whether it is a matter of spray granulation to dry or encapsulate liquids, the agglomeration of powders or powder/particle coating, the possibilities for product innovation are extremely diverse. www.glatt.com
