20.02.2017 Cutting mill accepts large sample pieces

Retsch, Haan, Germany, has added a new model to its cutting mill family. The SM 400 XL is said to be perfectly suitable for primary size reduction of very large sample pieces measuring up to 17 x 22cm, but can also achieve the required final fineness in one step, depending on the application. The large surface of the bottom sieve (240 x 240mm) permits processing of large sample volumes, resulting in a higher throughput than is possible with smaller cutting mills.

The high torque of the innovative 3kW drive with flywheel mass allows for exceptionally effective primary size reduction of soft to medium-hard, tough-elastic, and fibrous samples, as well as heterogeneous material mixes. The SM 400 XL even processes temperature-sensitive samples without too much heat build-up. When operated with the optional cyclone-suction combination the mill is also suitable for grinding light materials or small quantities. www.retsch.com
