10.10.2016 Grain storage expanded for third time

Game Engineering, Witham St Hughs, Lincolnshire, UK, recently completed  a phase-three expansion at Hemswell-based  farmers co-operative Woldgrain Storage, which is also located in Lincolnshire. This involved a further 25,000t of storage capacity in six silos with associated conveying system along with 250t/h intake conveyors and four new hopper-bottomed wet bins holding 2000t in total. The extra storage required a larger dryer of 80t/h capacity along with three new grain cleaners. Two new weighbridges were also installed.

The first phase of expansion had been completed by Game Engineering in 2011 with the installation of a new 60t/h grain dryer together with a 100t/h conveying system for the dryer, two 250t/h intake conveyors and 11 hopper-bottomed wet grain bins. Four 5000t capacity silos provided the required storage. To control this new equipment, Game also installed a new computer controlled operating system along with all new electrics.

Phase two, also supplied and engineered by Game, included another four silos giving an extra capacity of 13,000t. To cope with the increased storage it was decided to replicate the handling system which had been installed during the construction of phase 1. The Game Engineering designed system worked so well that changes were deemed unnecessary, so a similar 60t/h dryer with and 100t/h conveying system was installed. Additionally, the conveying system from the original silo block was also increased to 100t/h and a new bulk outloading point was installed, allowing Woldgrain to load five trucks simultaneously. www.game-engineering.com
